A mid-sized city with a strong sense of community, Medicine Hat offers amenities such as recreational facilities, cultural attractions, and is known for its parks and outdoor activities, including the nearby Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. The Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Emergency Department is currently accepting applications for a full-time emergency physician. The hospital is a level 3 Regional Trauma referral centre, averaging 39,000 emergency visits per year, with a catchment area of 110,000 in Southeastern Alberta. The Emergency Department provides 24-hour service with 14 full and part-time Emergency Physicians and offers a flexible self-scheduling system. Responsibilities / Duties: Work 14-15 shifts per month, each lasting 6-9 hours. Provide dual physician coverage during the day. Respond to in-hospital code blue emergencies. Deliver full-service emergency care, including trauma and resuscitation. Work in higher acuity areas of the department if qualified (CCFP-EM / RCPSC required), with consideration given to experience in Emergency Medicine for lower acuity areas. Additional Roles and Responsibilities: Establish and maintain a full-time clinical practice in the Zone Clinical Department of Emergency Medicine at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, providing shifts consistent with other equivalent practice FTEs as assigned by the medical leader. Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges. Reside in and have as primary residence the community of Medicine Hat. Meet the expectations for Emergency Medicine practitioners as directed by the Medical Leader. Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and policies. Collaborate within the Clinical Department of Emergency Medicine. Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives, supporting performance indicators related to safety, effectiveness, and patient satisfaction.
