We are committed to providing career-long support for learning and growth.THE OPPORTUNITYWe have an opportunity for a Business Data Analyst to join our award-winning firm in the Vancouver office.WHAT YOULL DOReporting to the Supervisor, Database Development and Administration, this role will bridge the gap between data-driven business strategy and quality assurance, ensuring that decisions are informed by robust analytics and that systems, products, and processes consistently meet the firms standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be skilled in both business analysis and quality assurance, using data to drive insights and improvements, while also designing and executing testing protocols to validate the integrity and performance of deliverables.RESPONSIBILITIESBusiness Analysis:Gather and document business requirements from stakeholdersAnalyze complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisionsWork with our team to translate business requirements into specifications for the data team for creating reports and processesCollaborate with product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to align data-driven strategies with business goals, sourcing information for new reports and processes to drive those strategiesQuality Assurance:Develop and execute detailed quality assurance plans, test cases, and scriptsImplement automated testing processes where appropriate to ensure actual outcomes match expected outcomesPerform manual and automated testing of our main corporate and data warehouse databases to ensure quality and accuracyPerform manual and automated testing of systems, reports, and processes to ensure functional and performance standards are metIdentify, document, and track defects and issues, working closely with development teams for resolutionVerify that solutions meet user expectations, business requirements, and compliance standardsCOMPETENCIESAsset Management Able to oversee the lifecycle of assets, ensuring optimal value, lifespan, and readiness, develop and implement strategies to manage and maintain assets efficiently, and balance budgets and align asset management practices with business needsCoordination Able to coordinate complex activities, aligning people, resources, and timelines to achieve goals efficiently, manage competing priorities, ensuring clarity, accountability, and timely completion of tasks, and proactively identify and resolve barriers that impact coordination or goal achievementCustomer Service Able to manage diverse and complex customer needs, ensuring accurate, timely, and policy-compliant resolutions, identify underlying customer concerns and recommend proactive solutions or improvements, and balance multiple customer priorities, maintaining high levels of satisfaction and efficiencyIT Management Able to design and oversee IT strategies that align with business objectives, optimize IT systems for performance and scalability, and manage complex IT projects involving multiple stakeholders and systemsKnowledge Management Able to develop advanced knowledge management systems to improve efficiency and learning, integrate diverse knowledge sources into cohesive repositories, and align knowledge sharing with organizational goals and needsProduct Knowledge Able to apply advanced product knowledge to solve client or customer challenges, provide insights on optimizing product or service for specific needs, and collaborate with teams to improve or expand product or service offerings based on feedbackTroubleshooting and Problem Solving Able to drive troubleshooting and problem-solving strategies for the firm, mentor others in advanced diagnostic techniques, and establish frameworks for efficient and effective problem resolutionKNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCEBachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field3+ years of experience in a hybrid Business Analysis/Quality Assurance role or similarStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services)Ability to write T-SQL queries to perform data analysis and data validation data is requiredExperience with querying normalized and denormalized data modelsExperience with QA tools and methodologies (e.g., JIRA, tSQLt)Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insightsExperience in a regulated industry or working with compliance frameworksKnowledge of development methodologies (Agile, waterfall, etc.)Knowledge of Extract-Transform-Load processesFamiliarity with data governance and quality management principlesKnowledge of the Investment industry would be an assetFamiliarity with Dataphile and Azure would be an assetWHAT WE OFFERA culture of openness, collaboration and respect is foundational to our firm.
