In your role as the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) at The North West Company (TNWC), you will play an important role in shaping the workforce of the future, supporting the company's commitment to employee engagement, diversity, and cultural excellence.You will create and sustain a positive employee relations environment, supporting a satisfied, productive, and motivated workforce across TNWCs expansive and diverse footprint - serving Northern Canada, Alaska, the Caribbean, and the South Pacific. You will provide expert advice, guidance, and support in areas such as employee-employer communication, change management, engagement, performance improvement, discipline, employee concern resolution, and policy interpretation.Joining TNWC gives you the opportunity for growth and development throughout the company, a competitive salary and benefits package, and to be part of a dynamic and diverse culture.Key Responsibilities:Provide consultative services to identify causes of employee relations issues, create solutions, and facilitate implementation of action plans.Support and guide front-line HR Connect employees in resolving escalated manager and employee inquiries and concerns about all HR programs and services.Lead and/or participate in the investigation and resolution of employee complaints, issues, and concerns regarding employment practices.Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures, promoting fairness, equity, and compliance across the organization.Communicate and guide leaders and employees on employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices to ensure understanding and adherence.Coach and build leadership capabilities to foster a positive and productive work environment while addressing recurring or systemic employee relations trends.Assist in creating and implementing change management plans that foster successful change and maximize employee engagement.Champion open communication by fostering effective two-way dialogue between employees and leadership.Qualifications:Minimum 3 years Human Resources or Employee Relations experience required.Post-secondary education in HR, Business, or a related field; HR certification considered an asset.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels through strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities.Flexibility to travel.Solid understanding of employment legislation and compliance requirements.Strong coaching and consulting skills along with service orientation and management skills.Skilled negotiator with the ability to gain buy-in and support for initiatives and ideas.Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and handle multiple assignments simultaneously, as well as work well under pressure and time constraints.Critical thinker and able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and approaches to problems.High degree of flexibility to successfully adapt to changing priorities and being comfortable with ambiguity.Why North West Company?The North West Company is a leading retailer serving underserved rural communities and urban neighborhood markets across Northern and Western Canada, rural Alaska, the South Pacific islands, and the Caribbean.
