Location: Powell River/qathet Regional DistrictSchedule: VariableSalary Or Wage: $39,000 to $42,500 per yearJob Type: Part or Full TimeList of RequirementsEducation & Experience:A degree, diploma or certificate in Tourism Management, Business Administration, Cultural Studies, or a related fieldMinimum of 3 years of experience in tourism management, community engagement, or a similar roleExperience working with Indigenous communities, preferably within a tourism or cultural contextEquivalent combination of education and experience will be consideredStrong leadership and team management abilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated cultural competency, particularly in relation to Indigenous culturesAbility to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholdersProficiency in digital marketing, social media, and other tourism promotion toolsList of DutiesLeadership & Management:Oversee the daily operations of the Visitor Centre, ensuring a welcoming and informative experience for all visitorsTrain, supervise, and support a team of staff and volunteersManage budgets, schedules, and resources effectivelyCommunity & Stakeholder Engagement:Develop and maintain partnerships with Destination BC, local businesses, tourism operators, and community organizationsAct as a liaison between the Visitor Centre and Tlaamin Nation, City of Powell River, and qathet Regional District, fostering strong relationships and ensuring the inclusion of Tlaamin cultural perspectives in all relevant activitiesCultural Competency & Representation:Demonstrate a strong understanding of, and respect for, Tlaamin culture, history, and languageWork closely with Tlaamin Nation representatives to develop culturally appropriate tourism content, programs, and displaysPromote cultural awareness and sensitivity among staff, volunteers, and visitorsBoard Governance:Responsible for leading Tourism Powell River in a manner that supports and guides the organizations mission as defined by the Board of DirectorsResponsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisionsResponsible for the organization and preparation for board and committee meetingsFinancial Performance and Viability:Working closely with the Boards elected Treasurer and auditor, responsible for submission of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statementsResponsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial positionResponsible for fundraising, grant applications, and seeking other resources necessary to support Tourism Powell Rivers missionOrganization Mission and Strategy:Responsible for strategic planning to ensure the Tourism Powell River can successfully fulfill its missionResponsible for implementation of Tourism Powell Rivers programs that carry out the organizations missionHow to ApplyTo apply for this job please use one of the methods listed below:Lift's Employment Services posts this position as a free service for the community.
