This individual plays an important role in maintaining the smooth and efficient operations of the warehouse/distribution including the supervision, training and coaching of department personnel. This position reports to the Warehouse Manager but may also report to the Branch Manager.ResponsibilitiesPlanning and coordinating manpower related to all operations in the Warehouse.Ensure that daily operations run smoothly and adhere to all company policies and proceduresResponsible for the hiring and or assisting in the hiring of suitable team membersProvide supervision to the reception, handling, distribution and storage of all freight, product and supplies that come in and out of the warehouse. Including import and export freight related to our air and ocean operations. Instruct Warehouse/Distribution staff to ensure all production orders are shipped to customers in a timely manner in adherence to delivery schedulesInstruct CFS staff to ensure all related documentation is maintained in accordance with CBSA requirements and released shipments are shipped to customers in a timely manner in adherence to delivery and pick up schedules.Assist maintenance of strict control over inventory levels and ensure that all transactions are properly documented in accordance with company SOPsAssist in the development and enforcement of corporate policies regarding security and safety in order to maintain a safe working environment.Oversee a team of warehouse employees, including delegating, training, coaching, planning, and evaluating staffMaintain open lines of communication between management, customer service staff, supervisors and lead hands in a respectful, effective and professional manner.Practice safe warehouse procedures, identify potential hazards, and recommend improvements where necessaryReport any work-related injuries or accidents to ManagerMaintain warehouse in a neat, orderly and efficient fashionVarious other duties as may be requiredQualificationsPrevious experience in a similar roleDirect working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, and transportation managementExcellent communication skills both written and verbalGood leadership skills with the ability to motivate the teamStrong mathematical and analytical skillsGood networking and interpersonal skillsAbility to remain calm in stressful situations, work under pressure and meet deadlinesAbility to interpret and act upon complex instructionsSolid project management skills are essentialAbility to physically handle items of variable weight Ability to safely operate a fork-lift or other cargo moving machineryA solid understanding of handling ocean import / export containersEducation/CertificationsPost-Secondary Education or equivalent work experienceForklift LicenseWHMIS TrainingTDG CertificateLocation and Work EnvironmentWarehouse within Toronto Branch locationExposure to a noisy environment and possible outside weather conditionsExposure to outside elements when driving company vehiclesSome stress related to conflicting demands, deadlines and prioritization of tasksSome exposure to DG in the warehouseMay have significant periods of standing, walking, carrying, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing or pulling **What We Offer! **Health benefits (Medical, Dental & Vision Coverage)RRSP/DPSP plan with company matchingPaid time off (vacation & sick time)Opportunities for career growth and skill enhancement We thank all applicants for their interest in a career with Nippon Express.
