NEP is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Designer to join the engineering team.The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to build internal customer relationships at various levels within the organization. This position is based out of Niagara Falls, Ontario.The incumbent will be responsible for engineering calculations, liaising with engineering subcontractors and clients, review engineering deliverables, preparing engineering fabrication packages and other process documentation for the manufacturing of heavy custom fabrications. They will be responsible for creating SolidWorks models and drawings from rough sketches or client drawings, specifications as well as completing material take-offs. The successful candidate must work in conjunction with Production, Quality and Sales department to create and sustain a positive, high-energy continuous improvement environment while meeting customer schedules and specifications.A competitive compensation plan exists along with opportunity for growth.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Work in an Engineering environment with other designers in collaboration with a team of Professional Engineers and TechnologistsAssist NEPs engineering team in billable and capital projectsGenerate conceptual designs as well as detailed drawing packagesProduce BOMs and material requisitionsCreate/review project documents, e.g., Inspection Test Plans, Procedures, Technical Specifications etc.Design fixtures and other mechanical components to improve/automate plant operationsLiaison effectively with NEPs vendors, suppliers and clientsPosition Requirements: An Engineering Degree or Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent experience in a technical/manufacturing field8-10 years of experience in Custom Fabrication/ Manufacturing; experience in Nuclear industry will be an assetExperience in preparing procedures and specificationsExperience working with SolidWorks and PDM Vault data management is a mustExperience in basic FEA; hand calculationsAbility to model in CAD and to produce technical drawings of company products using SolidWorks (including Weldments and Sheet Metal)Experience in generating BOMs, Production Orders, Navigating ERP systemsPersonal Attributes: Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English language with all levels of the organization, including executivesA can-do attitude with Continuous Improvement mindsetSuperior MS Office & MS Windows skillsProven ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverablesHigh level of sound and independent judgment and reasoningExcellent time management skills and project management skillsAbility to work under pressure in a fast paced environmentAnalytical, thorough, resourceful and detail-orientedTeam and customer service-focusedSelf-motivated, hardworking, flexibleConduct all tasks in a safe manner Think Safety FirstEnsure safety policies and procedures are followed at all timesPromote and participate in a healthy and safe working environmentStrong problem solving and computer skillsMust communicate and work effectively with others.Ability to multi-task; attention to detail
