The Registered Nurse (RN), as a member of the health care team, assists with the assessment, planning and implementation of nursing care to promote the achievement and maintenance of each patient's optimal level of health and functions; develops and maintains her own clinical competency; and performs other related and allied duties which contribute to the orderly and efficient operation of the department. This RN position provides replacement and/or supplementary nursing assistance to Emergency and ICU as required. This position requires a great deal of flexibility, broad knowledge of critical care nursing, hospital policies / procedures, and team leading skills. The nature of the assignment to an area may be for an entire shift or any portion thereof. Reassignment to another area of the hospital may be required and will be assigned by the General Nursing Supervisor. ICU as the primary unit indicates the area where the RN will be considered as part of the team for seniority, performance management, team meetings, etc. Minimum Qualifications:Active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of Prince Edward Island.A good previous work and attendance record.2 years Acute Care experience or 1-year critical care experience.BCLS certificationOther Qualifications:Preference will be given to candidates with previous Emergency/Critical Care experience.Preference will be given to candidates with ACLS, PALS, CTAS and TNCC or other Emergency/Critical Care courses.CNA certification in Emergency Nursing or certification in Critical Care/Trauma areas would be considered an asset.Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.Important Notes:Please ensure the application clearly demonstrates how you meet the noted qualifications as applicants will be screened based on the information provided.
