The successful candidate will work in a progressive multi-professional team, participate in rounds, meetings and quality initiatives and assist with coverage across other clinical service areas as necessary. The candidate will perform all other duties as required. This position is casual for in-patient and out-patient so the patient population could change depending on the department needs.DutiesRecognize and act within the scope of practice of a speech-language pathologistFlexibility and ability to prioritize and to deal with changes in tasks with short noticeAbility to function in an independent, self-directed manner and to exercise sound judgementAbility to function in a stressful environment while maintaining professional demeanorHave an understanding of health care teams and how the skills and competencies of all members contribute toward patient managementQualificationsMasters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalentRegistration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiologists (OSLA) membership, preferred1-2 years experience in an acute care hospital, preferredExperience in the assessment and treatment of ICU, general internal medicine, and stroke population, preferredExperience in professional education, presentation and in-services, preferredRecognizes and acts within the scope of practice of a speech-language pathologistUnderstanding of health care teams and how the skills and competencies of all members contribute toward patient managementCompliance with legislation outlined in Regulation of Health Professions Act (1991)Additional InformationWhy join UHN?In addition to working alongside some of the most talented and inspiring healthcare professionals in the world, UHN offers a wide range of benefits, programs and perks.
