Heavy Duty Mechanic Role About the Job A Heavy Duty Mechanic is a skilled tradesperson responsible for performing minor and major repairs, overhauls, and servicing of rail maintenance equipment, attachments, and material handling equipment. They work closely with management and maintain a safe working environment. Key Responsibilities: Performing minor and major repairs, including welding and lubrication tasks. Overhauls and servicing of rail maintenance equipment, attachments, and material handling equipment. Record details on prescribed forms in accordance with established procedures. Work closely and keep in regular communication with management. Uphold all applicable health and safety policies. Perform repairs outside in all weather conditions at varying times of the day. Operate and maintain a service truck in accordance with standards. Minimum Requirements: To be successful as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you must have: Experience with electric and gas welding equipment. An interprovincial red seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification or equivalent. A valid Class (5) Driver''s License. The ability to lift 50 pounds. Own hand tools up to 1 inch.
