Job Description

As a key member of our team, the Director of Human Resources will play a crucial role in fostering a positive workplace culture and driving HR initiatives. This position reports to the Managing Director, Peace River, and oversees HR professionals at our facility. ''> Strategic HR Planning (20%): Develop and implement HR strategies that align with our business goals and priorities. Work with senior leadership to anticipate and address staffing needs, organizational development, and succession planning. Oversee the HR budget and ensure effective use of resources. Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution (30%): Foster a positive working environment by partnering with business and departmental leaders to address employee concerns, complaints, and conflicts effectively and professionally. Promote and support the implementation of workplace health and safety programs in line with Alberta OHS Regulations. Compensation & Benefits Management (20%): Oversee the administration of compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness in the Alberta market and compliance with relevant regulations. Conduct salary benchmarking and recommend adjustments to attract and retain talent. Develop and manage performance management systems to evaluate and recognize employee contributions. Training & Development (20%): Assess training needs and create programs for skill development and career growth. Ensure employees continually improve their capabilities to contribute to our organization''s growth. Support leadership development and mentoring programs for supervisory and management teams. Compliance & Risk Management (10%): Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, provincial, and local labour laws and regulations. Oversee the development and enforcement of company policies and procedures to mitigate risk, adhering to Alberta OHS and WCB guidelines. ''> To be successful in this role, you will require: ''> A Bachelor''s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master''s degree is preferred. 15+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 7 years in a management role, preferably in the forestry or manufacturing industry. Strong knowledge of HR best practices, Alberta labour laws, compensation strategies, and employee relations. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. CHRP or CHRL is preferred. ''> The salary for this position is $160,000-$180,000. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The comprehensive benefit plan includes life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance, as well as short and long-term disability. A defined benefit pension plan and four weeks paid vacation plus 10 personal days are also included.
