JOB TITLE:DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONSDEPARTMENT:ADMINREPORTS TO:EXECUTIVE DIRECTORSalary range: $86,000 - $92,000Job SummaryThe Director of Operations (DO), reporting to the Executive Director and part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), oversees the Maintenance and Grounds teams at Tabor Village. They ensure that all facilities, infrastructure, IT systems and grounds operations are maintained and operated in alignment with organizational goals, standards, and regulatory requirements. The role involves strategic oversight of maintenance planning, safety compliance, capital projects, vendor management, and the overall functionality and presentation of the physical environment.The DO is a TaborCulturechampion and leads the organization byEngagingwith our staff and other Tabor stakeholders, creating positiveExperiencesfor them andEmpoweringthem to deliver on the mission and vision of Tabor.Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeadership and StaffingAs a member of the Leadership management team, the DO participates in the operational planning process to develop goals and objectives that support the Tabor Village vision and mission.The DO provides direct leadership to the maintenance staff and ensures the timely completion of operational maintenance tasks.Represents the organization at relevant industry conferences, trade shows etc and is responsible for fostering and promoting new and relevant initiatives.Stays abreast of building asset related government initiatives, grants and incentives and ensures that Tabor is availing of opportunities available to them.Participates and leads initiatives related to Tabors accreditation as required.Provides support and direction by participating in a number of meetings at different levels. Meetings include but are not limited to: JOSH, staff meetings, tenant meetings etc.Buildings and Mechanical SystemsCoordinates and works with external contractors to ensure critical facility systems maintenance, upgrades and renovations.Works with external contractors and BC housing to ensure a current Building Assessment (BA) is in place for Tabor buildings and then follows an annual plan to ensure updates as per the (BA) are in place and budgeted for.Is responsible for all building assets, parts and inventory management and ensures that required parts are stocked, tracked and re-ordered when necessary.The DO ensures the development andimplementation of a functioning annual preventive maintenance plan which includes inspections, regular maintenance and safety checks.IT systemsTabors IT services are managed by a third party vendor (It Contractor). All operational tasks, troubleshooting and installations are managed by this vendor. The DO is the point of contact for IT systems planning, budgeting, asset deployment and works with the contractor to ensure IT security compliance.GroundsEnsures that the grounds and landscape of all tabor properties are well cared for and presentable to the public.Provides oversite for the grounds maintenance at all Tabor sites by directing staff and working with landscaping contractors.Plans for the onset of inclement weather, winter and snow.Emergency PreparednessThe DO leads the Emergency Preparedness team and is responsible for ensuring that the Emergency Preparedness Plan and Binder are reviewed and updated on an annual basis.The DO is responsible for ensuring that Emergency drills including Fire Drills and other emergency drills are carried out at all Tabor sites as required.Responsible for helping the organization anticipate hazards and vulnerability and undertake measures to deal with disasters more effectively.BudgetingThe DO is responsible for the development, maintenance and allocation of the Maintenance, Ground and IT budgets.Budgets are developed annually by the DO and approved by the Executive Director.Campus Master PlanningThe DO is a key stakeholder in the overall master planning of the campus and collaborates closely with the executive director on initiatives related to the future planning of buildings, assets and service delivery at Tabor.QualificationsEducation, Training and ExperienceDegree or Diploma in Management or related discipline from a recognized university or college or equivalent experience.Trades Qualification Certificate is an asset.A minimum of 5 years of experience managing staff, programs and budgets.Health care experience preferred.Skills and AbilitiesWork effectively with other department managers, seniors and their families, members of the community and regional representatives to maintain positive working relationships and to uphold the reputation of the facility as a quality service provider.Able to follow, interpret and implement language from a Union Collective AgreementEffective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to manage conflict.Willingness to promote Tabor Village Mission and Values.Strong problem solving, decision making and analytical skills with the ability to organize, prioritize and delegate work.Able to teach, coach, provide supervision and collaborate effectively with other members of the team.Ability to operate all related equipment and the physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.Legally entitled to work in Canada.Ability to provide a clear Criminal Record Check.
