Overview:Our client is a leading Canadian manufacturer of advanced torque tools, including pneumatic, battery-powered, and electronic pistol grip wrenches. Their products are used worldwide across industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, aerospace, power generation, and manufacturing. We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to lead the design, implementation, analysis, and verification of complex systems involving mechanical, electronic, firmware, and software components. This is a critical role that ensures all system elements work together seamlessly to meet technical, performance, and quality standards. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions across the full product lifecycle.What you will be doing:System Analysis and Requirements GatheringAnalyze stakeholder and customer requirementsDefine and manage system-level engineering requirementsEvaluate feasibility, risks, and performance of potential solutionsSystem Architecture and DesignTranslate business and technical needs into system specificationsBreak down complex systems into functional componentsEnsure designs are scalable, robust, and compliant with applicable standardsSystem Implementation and IntegrationImplement and verify subsystems (hardware, firmware, software)Troubleshoot integration challenges and optimize performanceEnsure maintainability and scalability in designSystem Verification and ValidationDevelop and execute system-level test strategiesEnsure compliance with internal quality standards and applicable regulationsMaintain full traceability from requirements to test resultsProject Leadership, Documentation, and CollaborationContribute to project planning, development timelines, and risk mitigationCollaborate with cross-functional engineering and product teamsProduce and maintain comprehensive documentation including requirements, design specifications, FMEAs, and validation reportsProvide technical mentorship and support to junior engineersSkills Required:Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field (preference for Electronics and/or Firmware disciplines).P.Eng. certification preferred, or eligibility and motivation to pursue registration.10+ years of relevant design experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.Strong background in systems engineering and firmware development.Leadership experience is considered an asset.System-level design and integrationRequirements specification and managementInterface definition, FMEA, and risk/safety analysisVerification and validation planning and executionFamiliarity with project management methodologies (Stage Gate, Waterfall, Agile/Scrum, or SAFe)Embedded firmware development (bare metal, RTOS, embedded Linux)Strong technical documentation and reportingExceptional communication, organizational, and time management skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary teamPersonal CharacteristicsInnovative and solutions-orientedProactive and responsiveCommitted to quality and continuous improvementDependable and detail-drivenStrong sense of ownership and accountabilityOtherProficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and OutlookSalary range: $120-130K, quarterly bonuses.Our client believes in pay equity, fairness and transparency, and their ranges are determinedby role, level, and location.
