The Opportunity Join GIP Construction Engineering (GCE) group as a Materials Engineer based out of Caledon, Ontario. You will be part of a high-performing project team that is dedicated to delivering results with a complex undertaking through collaboration and a best-for-project vision. Reporting to the Quality/Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role for various projects related to inspection and testing of construction materials with a focus on supporting the evaluation of concrete and hot mix materials. Specific duties and responsibilities include:Evaluate and analyze concrete test results and reports.Review of concrete mix designs and component materials.Prepare and review reports for cements, admixtures and aggregates.Assist with coordinating field & lab testing including preparing reports for specialty and advanced concrete testing.Assist with advanced concrete testing when required and preparation for new laboratory testing.Evaluation of aggregates for suitability in concrete and hot mix asphalt.Provide support with hot mix asphalt test reporting including performance testing of hot mix.Work with managers and supervisors to resolve non-conformances and provide continuous improvements.Participate in project meetings, prepare proposals and presentations.Provide recommendations to improve processes and procedures.Assist with facilitating internal & external audits including corrective actions, to provide independent feedback for further support of project quality improvement.Follow all company and regulatory safety policies and procedures.Perform other duties as instructed. Lets talk about qualifications and requirements.Post-secondary education in a Civil / Materials University degree program is preferred.Minimum 3-5 years of experience working on construction and/or engineering projects or related environment.Through understanding of CSA / ACI specifications, test methods and documents.Expansive knowledge of ASTM / OPSS / AASHTO specifications.Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and regulations.Strong problem-solving skills and must be able to effectively communicate with managers, engineers, supervisors and other team members.Prior experience in testing of concrete and hot mix is an asset.GCE is looking for talented, dedicated, and driven individual to join our team.
