Primary location is Lakeshore Campus with occasional travel to the alternate campus as well as Carrier Drive and Humber Downtown locations.Salary: $120,232.00 Schedule: Monday Friday, 9 AM 5 PM or Compressed work week 8:30-6:30 (4 days/week, Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday)About the Student Wellness and Equitable Learning Dept at Humber:The Student Wellness and Equitable Learning (SWEL) department adopts a collaborative, socio-ecological approach to student development and well-being. Our cross-functional team offers comprehensive support through Student Connection and Community Care, Residence Life and Education, and Student Wellbeing services (Accessible Learning Services, Mental Health and Counselling, Wellness Education and Programs, and the Health Centre). SWEL provides pan-College services at all Humber Polytechnic and University of Guelph-Humber campuses through our Student Wellness and Accessibility Centres (SWAC), ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment.About The Associate Director, Accessible Learning RoleThe Accessible Learning Services department is guided by the social model of disability, which focuses on removing physical, social, and attitudinal barriers in the learning environment. It prioritizes learner-centered approaches and promotes inclusive, collaborative spaces where all students, especially those with disabilities, are empowered to participate fully. The department actively works to reduce barriers, ensure clear communication, and facilitate equitable access to services. Through this model, the department fosters a proactive and empowering relationship with students, advocating for an inclusive educational experience.The Associate Director of Accessible Learning Services provides strategic leadership to embed the social model of disability across policies, practices, and service delivery. The role ensures the effective provision of academic accommodations, adaptive technology, and transitional supports while advancing systemic approaches that reduce barriers in the learning environment. Through collaboration, and innovation, the Associate Director strengthens Humbers capacity to deliver inclusive, learner-driven support.Specific Duties Include, But Are Not Limited ToProviding strategic and operational leadership to ensure services align with legislative frameworks (e.g., OHRC, AODA), SWEL and College priorities, and evolving student needs.Determining service priorities and staffing models across campuses to ensure timely, equitable access and coordinated service delivery.Developing and implementing department protocols, inclusive practices, and academic accommodation processes.Enhancing service excellence through coaching, mentorship, and participation in case consultations and student care planning.Work closely with the Centre for Innovative Learning to provide support to faculty around best practices for working with students with disabilities and integrating inclusive pedagogical approaches into the curriculumProvides advice and guidance to the College on all issues pertaining to legal liability and human rights issues or requirements within the context of the provision of accessible learning opportunitiesFostering integrated, pan-College approaches to ensure consistency in service and equitable access for all students.Innovating service delivery models that expand student access through peer support, digital tools, and learner-centered design.Communicating effectively with students, families, faculty, and stakeholders about accessibility-related services.Creating systems for gathering student input, assessing programs and services, and regularly analyzing service data to make decisions that widen access and increase inclusion.Implementing and monitoring quality assurance measures to evaluate service effectiveness, student satisfaction, and access outcomes.Using data-driven approaches to identify barriers, assess impact, and implement changes that promote inclusion and improve student experience.Managing departmental operations including budget development, revenue generation, expense forecasting, and external funding oversight.Participating in College-wide committees, policy development, and government reporting.QualificationsAbout You:AboutYou are passionate about working at Ontario's largest Polytechnic; you thrive on improving productivity and quality that contribute to team success! If this sounds like you, keep reading:EducationA Masters Degree in Disability Studies, Education, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or a related field.Experience/SkillsAt least 7 years of progressive leadership experience in accessible learning services/occulational health and well-being with demonstrated success in implementing strategic initiatives and service innovations that improve access for individuals with disabilitiesDirect experience supervising interdisciplinary teams in unionized environments, with a proven ability to foster collaboration and achieve positive outcomesProven experience in leading service design and change management initiatives, particularly in developing, implementing, and evaluating student-centered programs for learners with disabilitiesExceptional leadership skills with an emphasis on charting vision, inspiring action, and fostering an inclusive work environmentExpertise in applying anti-oppressive frameworks and social justice principles to accessibility services, with a strong orientation towards enhancing accessibility and promoting equity and inclusion across diverse student populationsExpertise in disability-related accommodations, including in-depth knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Ontario Human Rights Code, and other relevant legislation that govern accessibility and accommodations in higher educationOrganizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with superior attention to detailExceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, present data-driven insights, and advocate for accessibility and inclusion initiativesIf this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!
