The ministry supports Albertans health and well-being throughout their lives by protecting public health and promoting wellness; coordinating and delivering safe, person-centered, quality health services.The Ministry of Hospital and Surgical Health Services will empower frontline health care professionals to speed up access to high-quality care, reduce wait times and make sure every patients journey through the acute care system is efficient and effective across the province.This is a 12-month TEMPORARY opportunityRoleReporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Finance and Capital Planning you will provide strategic direction for all financial planning activities for both ministries under a shared services model. This includes developing, coordinating and implementing comprehensive financial planning to address complex fiscal challenges. You will be accountable for the oversight of a multi-billion-dollar budget as well as restricted grants and contracts. Your excellent communication and influential skills will lend to strong networks and relationships with complex stakeholders and partners. You have experience leading strong teams accountable for fiscal oversight and you demonstrate an understanding of government and department priorities.QualificationsSuccess in this role calls for a progressive leader with a background that includes significant related senior financial management leadership experience. You bring a strong understanding of financial planning, oversight of large, complex budgets and strong fiduciary experience. You bring demonstrated experience leading complex financial strategy planning as well as an ability to work effectively with stakeholders to manage diverse expectations and interests. You can demonstrate the ability to collaborate and influence change across multiple areas without direct authority. A respected leader with experience leading staff, you are committed to building strong lines of communication and trust as well as empowering your teams to achieve results through performance excellence.
