Come join a great Firm and team!The successful candidate will be organized, detail-oriented and able to demonstrate strong communication skills along with the desire to grow as a litigation professional over the long term.A dedicated professional and team player with a high desire to meet the clients needs and practice excellent advocacy.This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals and gain direct experience in a dynamic and challenging legal environment.Position Overview:The Junior Litigation Associate will assist with the performance of a variety of substantive, complex and routine legal activities.This position will be located at our head office in Mississauga.Responsibilities include, among others:Working closely with the Principal Lawyer / Senior LawyersPreparing draft materials and/or all materials required for discoveries and/or court or arbitration hearings.Conducting or assisting on discoveries, motions, applications and trials or arbitrations.Communicating with all parties that form part of the caseload.Liaison with other practice groups with duties related to the management of client relationships.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications/Experience:The following would be an asset:Strong Knowledge of civil procedure and practice.In court experience, in person and virtually.Drafted claims, defences, applications, motions, affidavits, factums, and other litigation documents.Experience working with expert witnesses.Experience preparing clients for hearings and examinations.Experience using legal software and other practice-based software such as Westlaw, CanLII, Case Center, CaseLines and other litigation assistance software.Experience with all Microsoft Office tools, advanced PDF.Diversity and InclusionAt KMB Law, we believe a diverse workplace is comprised of individuals with unique backgrounds, characteristics, and qualities.
