Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Animal Protection Officer to join our team and contribute to providing exceptional animal care and services. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle emergency situations with professionalism and compassion. This role requires the ability to lift and move animals or objects weighing up to 100lbs, as well as work independently and as part of a team. A valid non-probationary Ontario Class G driver''s license and a clear Drivers Abstract are also required. About the Role Responding to animal-related emergencies, including sick/injured wildlife and domestic animals, and enforcing Town of Oakville Animal Control By-laws. Issuing Administrative Monetary Penalties, Summonses, and preparing Crown Briefs as required. Picking up deceased animals on roadways and parks, handling both domestic animals and wildlife, and keeping accurate evidence notebooks. Providing high-quality customer service to clients and responding to all public inquiries in person, over the phone, or via email. The successful candidate will be able to work successfully in a team environment, build effective working relationships inside and outside the animal protection team, and demonstrate diplomacy, tact, and discretion. Key Qualifications A High School diploma plus one or more completed years in Veterinary Technology, Animal Health Technology, Police Foundations, Law & Security, or equivalent. Strong written and oral communication/interpersonal skills. Able to work successfully in a team environment and build effective work relationships. Excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, and de-escalation techniques. A valid non-probationary Ontario Class G driver''s license and a clear Drivers Abstract.
