Our client, a well-respected litigation firm located in downtown Toronto, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Insurance Defence Legal Assistant to join their dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal assistant with a background in insurance defence to contribute to a busy and collaborative legal environment.In this role, you will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to lawyers and law clerks, assisting in the management of insurance defence files from intake to resolution. You will be responsible for drafting legal documents, coordinating schedules, managing documentation, and ensuring timely and accurate communication with clients, courts, and legal professionals.Responsibilities:Draft, format, proofread, and prepare correspondence, pleadings, motion records, affidavits, mediation memos, and other legal documentsFile and serve court documents in accordance with Rules of Civil ProcedureSchedule Examinations for Discovery, court appearances, mediations, and other key meetingsCoordinate lawyers calendars and ensure all deadlines and appointments are tracked accuratelyAssist in the preparation of trial and arbitration materialsManage physical and electronic legal files throughout all stages of the litigation processSupport docketing, billing, and preparation of cheque requisitionsMaintain organized document management systems and ensure all documents are up to datePrepare reports by gathering and summarizing legal and financial data as requiredUse legal software effectively for case management and document preparationOpen and close legal files in accordance with firm proceduresHandle confidential and sensitive information with discretionProvide additional administrative support as neededRequirements:3+ years of experience in Insurance Defence Litigation in a legal assistant or similar capacityStrong working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and relevant court proceduresExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentExceptional attention to detail and accuracyProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systemsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a collaborative teamDemonstrated initiative, problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitudeAbility to manage large volumes of documentation with professionalism and efficiencyCompletion of a Legal Assistant Diploma from a recognized institutionCommitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalismPerks:Temporary role with potential to go permanent$28.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay, paid weeklyWork in a dynamic organization that continues to growWhy Kelly?As a worker today, its up to you to take charge of your career and look for opportunities to learn, grow and achieve your potential.
