Our flagship product, the ALTA Platform, is a one-of-a-kind patient transfer solution that addresses critical challenges in hospital workflows, thereby minimizing staff injuries and enhancing patient dignity through safe and seamless automation.About the positionAs our Systems Test & Validation Engineer, you will be working at the intersection of mechanical, electrical and software domains to design, execute and automate test procedures across the full stack-from assembly validation to embedded software.You will play a critical role in identifying and triaging issues-is it a software bug, a hardware fault, or a mechanical misalignment?-and ensuring that every release meets the highest bar for quality and uptime.This role is ideal for someone early in their career who thrives on structured problem-solving, hands-on testing and building tools that improve efficiency, clarity and confidence across the team.This role is 100% in office.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain test plans and procedures for mechanical subassemblies, electrical systems, embedded firmware, HMI and system-level integrationBuild and improve automated test systems to validate software and hardware functionality across the stackDebug and triage complex system issues, distinguishing between electrical, mechanical, firmware or user interface root causesOwn the software release validation process, ensuring system integrity and zero software regressions while coordinating system test coverage for all builds.Collaborate with firmware, mechanical and software teams to ensure testability, traceability, and reproducibilityCollect and analyze system telemetry to identify trends, reliability issues or latent bugsSupport manufacturing and assembly teams with incoming QA procedures and production-level verificationDocument all test protocols, outcomes, and corrective actions to support continuous improvement and regulatory submissions (Health Canada, FDA, ISO 60601, etc.)Collaborate with engineering on failure analysis, root cause investigation and reliability improvementsRequirements:Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Software or Biomedical Engineering~2 years of industry experience in QA, test engineering or systems validationStrong understanding of control systems, embedded systems and multi-domain integrationComfort working with lab tools, test equipment and Python for test automationExperience or interest in medical device development and regulatory processesExperience writing or maintaining automated tests for physical systems or embedded devicesHands-on, detail-oriented and proactive mindsetExcellent communication skills, especially when triaging ambiguous or cross-domain issuesFamiliarity with ISO 60601, FDA Class I/II or Health Canada medical device regulationsBonus Skills:Experience with Git, CI/CD or test automation frameworksExposure to robotics, motion systems, or electromechanical actuationComfort working with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and low-level debugging toolsAttributes of a successful candidate:Take ownership: Take responsibility and accountability for your tasksProactive: When a challenge or problem is identified, you actively seek ways to address or mitigate itResourceful: Find creative ways to solve problems and think out of the boxAdaptable: Able to respond to rapidly changing project requirementsApplication Requirements:Please submit a tailored resume and cover letter as a single PDF document with the naming format 'STV2505_Firstname_Lastname'.
