Your responsibilities include:Supervision of Crew:Provide leadership to crew members, ensuring their adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures. Oversee daily operations and provide guidance on best practices for efficiency and safety. Conduct regular training and emergency drills for the crew, ensuring compliance with Transport Canada regulations.Vessel Safety and ComplianceEnsure the vessel operates within company-approved routes, abiding by maritime laws and regulations. Inspect all vessel areas for unsafe conditions or operational hazards and take corrective actions. Maintain up-to-date vessel operations, maintenance logs, crew reports, and records of any safety drills or accidents.Equipment ManagementEnsure proper use and maintenance of all onboard equipment during regular operations and emergency situations. Manage inspections, maintenance schedules, and repairs, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.Accident and Incident InvestigationLead investigations into accidents or incidents aboard the vessel, documenting findings and ensuring that corrective measures are implemented. Prepare detailed reports on any accidents or near-miss events and follow up with required actions.Emergency Response and DrillsCoordinate emergency drills to prepare the crew for various emergency scenarios, ensuring the crew is well-versed in evacuation procedures, firefighting, first aid, and man-overboard situations. Oversee emergency operations, ensuring all crew members are assigned roles and respond promptly in case of an emergency.CommunicationMake announcements to the crew and passengers to ensure their comfort and safety. Maintain clear communication with relevant authorities and stakeholders, especially during emergencies or regulatory inspections.Passenger and Crew SafetyMonitor and enforce safety protocols for passengers, ensuring life-saving equipment is accessible and fully functional.
