Ensures the operations, processes and services are customer-centric and efficient. The units deliver community recreation programs through geographically aligned areas across the City, aquatic, sport and physical activity programming for all ages, as well as programming to address the needs of individuals with disabilities and population segments who may experience barriers to access recreation services.You are responsible for assisting with all functions relating to the delivery of a Therapeutic Recreation / Life Skills Day Program.Education And ExperienceCompletion of college diploma in related field or equivalent experience with Special Needs clients.Minimum of 1 to 3 years of related experience with Adults with DisabilitiesCERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCESCurrent Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificatesCrisis Prevention/Intervention training certificateAODA Customer Service/IASR TrainingErgonomic Lifts and Transfers trainingKNOWLEDGEComfort level and expertise with different disability groups (physical, developmental, etc.)Legislation protecting rights of special needs clients, populationsClient careCity of Ottawa and Parks & Recreation Branch Policies and ProceduresKnowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.Training in medical client careCompetencies, Skills And AbilitiesAbility to lead small groupsCreativeFlexibleAdvanced Communication SkillsDisplays initiativeWhat You Need To KnowLanguage Requirement:Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies.
