For insights into our heritage, please click: ;feature=player_embedded Position Summary This role involves assisting the Chief Operating Engineer in coordinating Power Plant Operations and Maintenance activities to meet production, safety, quality, and continuous improvement objectives. The role also includes facilitating these activities to ensure smooth operations. Key Responsibilities Operations: Assist the Chief Engineer in managing electrical, mechanical, construction, repair, and maintenance programs for facilities and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient utility system operation. Implement preventive maintenance systems and ensure effective cost management, including budget development and ownership. Contribute to natural gas procurement and negotiate contracts with vendors and governing bodies. Oversee routine maintenance and operation of mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment. Support inventory control programs and implement energy reduction and sustainability strategies. Quality & Safety: Promote a proactive safety culture, ensure compliance with OHSA and OSHA 18001 standards, and provide necessary training. Develop and maintain equipment standards and ensure all staff are trained per ISO guidelines. Conduct inspections, ensure compliance with TSSA requirements, and develop safety manuals. External Contacts: Coordinate with contractors, maintain QMS certifications, and ensure compliance with codes and regulations. Team Management: Coach and manage employees, oversee work schedules, payroll, and safety permits. Project Management: Manage budgets for CAPEX/OPEX projects, lead change initiatives, and support departmental goals. Requirements include a 1st class Power Engineer certificate from TSSA (or 2nd class with some 1st class exams), 5+ years of related experience, appropriate trade licenses, excellent communication skills, proficiency with relevant software, and flexibility for shift work and emergencies.
