Summary Of Duties And Responsibilities Serves as the Director, Nursing (DON) with oversight of all clinical RNs, triage staff, and immunization services across multiple clinics and administrative offices. Responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for nursing operations while ensuring high-quality patient care and regulatory compliance. Demonstrates leadership in managing nursing operations, staff development, and quality improvement initiatives. Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion in handling highly sensitive clinical information and materials. Responsibilities Primary Duties and Responsibilities : Oversees and directs all clinical RNs, triage nursing staff, and immunization services across multiple clinic locations and administrative offices. Develops and implements comprehensive nursing protocols and procedures to ensure best practices, including those for immunization services. Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards for nursing practice, including vaccine storage, handling, and administration. Establishes clinical staffing models and schedules to ensure appropriate coverage in all clinic locations. Recruits, trains, mentors, and evaluates nursing staff performance and professional development. Monitors and evaluates nursing metrics, including immunization rates, quality standards and implements strategies to improve overall performance. Provides support and resources for new staff orientation, training and overall competency standards for all clinical staff, including RN, MA and other key departments. Collaborates with public health agencies and community partners on healthcare initiatives. Oversees daily clinical operations including triage workflows and nursing care delivery. Implements and monitors clinical documentation standards for all nursing services and provides support to other key clinical areas such as Medical Assistants. Develops and maintains nursing policies and procedures related to all aspects of clinical care. Prepares and manages departmental budgets for nursing and immunization services. Monitors productivity metrics and implements efficiency improvements. Analyzes staffing costs and makes adjustments as needed to optimize resources. Coordinates with billing department to ensure proper reimbursement for nursing services, including immunizations. Responds to and resolves escalated patient concerns related to nursing and immunization services. Supports the organization''s accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home and commitment to provide care to all patients that is Safe, Effective, Patient Centered, Timely, Efficient, and Equitable. Provides leadership and works with all staff to achieve the goals of the ''Triple Aim'' of healthcare reformto improve the experience of care, improve health outcomes, and decrease healthcare costs. Embodies the strength of personal character. Places value on being an open and honest communicator who displays high moral and ethical conduct, integrity, adaptability, and sound judgment. Qualifications Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge : BSN required, MSN preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience. Prior experience supervising nursing staff in outpatient settings. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical nursing standards, including immunization schedules and best practices. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to nursing practice. Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making abilities. Proven leadership and staff development capabilities. Strong financial acumen and budget management experience. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to implement quality improvement initiatives. Proficient computer skills in software applications of Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems. Experience working under pressure and deadlines. Well organized; accurate and attentive to detail. Preferred Requirements Preferred Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge : MSN or other advanced nursing degree. Certification in nursing leadership or specialty related to immunization services. Experience in community health or public health nursing. Essential Functions Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Able to sit for long periods of time. Ability to move throughout clinical and office environments. May require occasional travel between clinic locations. Ability to perform basic clinical functions as needed in emergency situations.
