We are a national, direct to broker private mortgage lender dedicated to helping homeowners access the equity in their homes through a quick, user-friendly, and transparent process. The Underwriting Assistant is essential for supporting the underwriting team in efficiently processing mortgage applications and ensuring compliance, contributing to the seamless facilitation of mortgage funding. As a crucial member of our team, you''ll play a key role in streamlining operations and assisting in maintaining our high standards of service. Responsibilities: Assist underwriters in reviewing mortgage applications for accuracy and completeness. Collect and verify applicant documentation, including income and credit information. Communicate with Business Development Managers (BDMs), Underwriters, and external brokers to gather necessary information. Ensure compliance with lending regulations and internal policies. Maintain organized records and documentation for each application. Collaborate with the underwriting team to expedite the loan approval process. Handle administrative tasks such as data entry and filing. Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders. Support BDMs and Underwriters in assessing risk and making informed lending decisions. Experience & Requirements: Minimum three years administrative work experience, ideally within financial services. Minimum one years experience working in a similar role within financial services, or in another role with confidential information. Preferred (but not required) Licensed Sub Mortgage Broker in at least one of the following BC or ON Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficiency in using office software and data entry. Basic understanding of mortgage lending processes and regulations. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
