We host regular team retreats, invest in continuous learning, and are scaling rapidly.The RoleWere hiring an Engineering Manager to lead and grow our commerce-focused engineering organization. While Shopify experience is a plus, your core responsibility will be to scale, support, and structure our large, distributed engineering team. Youll directly manage 50+ engineers and designers across North America and LATAM, and play a critical role in helping us grow to 100+ team members in the coming year.This role is not client-facing or delivery-focused. Its a people-first leadership position that sits at the intersection of engineering operations, recruiting, and organizational scaling. Youll work closely with our recruiting team to help align hiring with upcoming demand, bridging sales projections with resourcing strategy to support business growth.What Youll DoManage & Mentor: Lead and support a high-performing team of 50+ engineers and designers, ensuring team health, engagement, and growthUpskill Talent: Oversee internal bench projects to help engineers deepen Shopify and full-stack skills between client workScale the Org: Help grow the engineering team to 100+ by building scalable systems, structure, and cultureBridge Sales & Hiring: Work closely with the recruiting team to align incoming sales pipeline with hiring velocity and role requirementsResource Allocation: Strategically assign engineers to projects based on skillsets, availability, and development goalsHiring & Onboarding: Lead interviewing, hiring, and onboarding to ensure high-quality, fast-growing team additionsPerformance & Compensation: Run regular performance reviews, compensation adjustments, and individual development plansCross-regional Team Management: Oversee both North American and nearshore (LATAM) pods to maintain a unified culture and delivery readinessWhat Were Looking ForProven experience managing large engineering/design teams (30+ people; ideally 50100)Strong background working with enterprise-level clients or projectsAbility to create scalable systems for growth, performance, and engagementExperience partnering with recruiting or sales teams to support business growth and hiring alignmentFamiliarity with distributed and multicultural team dynamicsExcellent communication and organizational skills, with a high degree of autonomyNice to HaveExperience in the Shopify ecosystem or modern e-commerce platformsBackground in a consulting agency, product studio, or digital services companyExperience managing both engineers and designersFamiliarity with nearshore markets (e.g., LATAM talent pipelines)Perks & Benefits Remote First Work from anywhere with a strong connection Work-Life Balance Flexible hours and a no-micromanagement culture Unlimited PTO Minimum 15 days off encouraged; more if needed Annual Team Retreats Bond with teammates in stunning locations (e.g., Hawaii, Cancun, Dominican Republic) High-Impact Role Be a key leader in scaling a global engineering org with high visibility
