With our strategically located pits and quarries, our unmatched fleet of trucks and heavy equipment, our state-of-the-art facilities, and our dedicated employees, Thomas Cavanagh Construction has earned a reputation as one of Ottawas most trusted and respected contractors. **Grading Labourer** will work under the supervision of a foreperson setting grades, checking elevations, dumping trucks, and working with heavy equipment. **Duties and Responsibilities:** * Read and interpret construction drawings * Use survey instruments to establish correct line and grade * Identify any conflicts and report to site supervisor * Work with engineers and surveyors to solve problems * Achieve correct grade by directing operators of equipment to adjust grade by moving earth, gravel, and other materials * Measure distances from reference points or offsets to accurately install utilities **Requirements:** * 3+ years of experience in grading as a labourer is required * Strong knowledge of grading techniques, surveying, and construction specifications. * Ability to read and interpret , construction drawings, and survey data. * Proficiency in using survey instruments such as laser levels and GPS equipment. * Strong mathematical skills to accurately calculate grades and elevations. * Valid drivers license and reliable transportation. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively lead a team. **Cavanagh Employee Benefits:** Family oriented work environment Attractive, competitive compensation for qualified candidates Internal growth opportunities Training and development opportunities Benefit, Wellness and Pension Plans *The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to the classification.
