We are currently hiring for a highly motivated **Journeyman/Apprentice Crane Operator** to work out of our **Surrey, BC** office. This Unionised position will report to the local Branch Manager. This position will be responsible for the following responsibilities and tasks (but not limited to); * Review, understand, and apply documents (planning instruction sheets, certificates, lifting plans, etc.) * Perform site inspections of assembly/lifting area while ensuring area is free of obstacles * Review crane parts for damages and correctly load/unload parts from transport * Maintains all crane parts, safety pins, safety switches, and cylinders when assembling cranes * Makes a correct estimation of the weight of the load (load + hook + chains) * Erects/positions the crane correctly considering the load/order, as well as with regard to the initial position as to the position during the radius * Correctly sling simple and complex loads * Assist in the demobilization/mobilization of crawler & mobile cranes * Act as a crane driver on telescopic cranes when needed (if experienced) * Apply and communicate all safety rules to stakeholders * Manage and maintain rigging material by: * Ensuring that materials are tidy, greased, and oil * Performing visual inspection of materials and report and damages * Filling in and passing maintenance checklists * Maintains administrative duties such as: * Completing worksheets weekly * Regularly checking material and eventual accessories (oil and fuel levels, first aid kits, fire extinguisher, walkie talkies) * Reports the work on site and attend work meetings regarding safety aspects surrounding cranes **The ideal candidate will have the following technical capabilities:** * Technical institution or equivalent experience. Red Seal would be an asset. * AT Crane Experience 120 ton 300 ton * Hold a valid Class 1 License * Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English * Knowledge of mechanics and crane capacities regarding: * The influence of the position of a crane on the lifting capacity * Estimating of loads * Ability to correctly sling a complex load * Assist in the assembly and deconstruction of cranes and possibly work with a telehandler * Knowledge regarding RT, AT, and crawlers * Clean driving record * Taxi Experience required * A willingness to travel up to 20%. **In addition to the technical capabilities, the ideal candidate will be:** * Committed to prevention and zero workplace accidents * Customer-focused * Motivated, solution-driven and entrepreneurial * Disciplined and committed to quality * Flexible * Loyal, honest and sincere * Collaborative in their approach to working with people, both individually and in a group **Compensation arrangements are based on the Collective Agreement in place with the Industrial Operating Engineers Local 115.** *We appreciate your interest in this position and will carefully review each application.
