The Electrical Technologist is a technical expert capable of providing solutions for clients in various areas, such as Medium Voltage Distribution, Low Voltage Distribution, Motor Control Center Design, Coordination Studies, Fault Current Analysis, Arc Flash Studies, Grounding, VFD''s and Motor Controls, Fire Alarm, Security, Lighting Design (Industrial Applications), Explosive Environment Applications (dust and vapours), Ontario Electrical Code/NFPA, Permitting Process. Responsibilities: Understand each overall project. Coordinate with Process, Mechanical and Architectural disciplines. Preparation of engineering calculations. Development of engineering drawings (single lines, risers, layouts). Preparation of construction specifications, user requirements, functional specifications, and scope documentation. Cost estimating. Technical leadership on assigned projects. Peer review of engineering work. Development of templates and tools for discipline area. Participation in the development of training materials. Maintaining industry knowledge for discipline area. Coaching other disciplines for the purpose of understanding/coordination. Attendance of factory acceptance testing and on-site coordination and execution of commissioning and validation activities. Travel to client sites for site review and troubleshooting. Required Skills and Qualifications Graduation from a 3-year post-secondary program in engineering technology. Certified by Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT). Core Competencies: Electrical engineering skills with ~3-5 years of current work experience. AutoCAD. Revit an asset. Field experience is a strong asset. Independent work on Projects. Leadership skills an asset. Proficiency in written and spoken English with the ability to communicate clearly with clients and peers. Skilled at communicating in a professional and courteous manner. Use of Microsoft operating system and Microsoft Office Suite to navigate a server environment and prepare engineering documents. Valid driver''s license and car. Knowledge of OHSA and the Green Book as it applies to construction in general and electrical construction specifically.
