About the OpportunityOversee and process bi-weekly payroll for salaried, hourly, full-time, part-time, and contract staff.Ensure all payroll transactions are processed efficiently and in compliance with employment standards, collective agreements (if applicable), and government regulations.Manage payroll systems and data integrity, ensuring accurate employee records, pay rates, tax information, and deductions.Supervise and support payroll staff, providing guidance and training as needed.Collaborate with HR to ensure timely updates of employee data, benefits changes, leave tracking, and terminations.Prepare and reconcile payroll-related journal entries and reports for Finance.Manage year-end payroll processes including T4s, T4As, summaries, and audit support.Coordinate with benefits providers to ensure accurate enrollment and deductions.Maintain compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations, including statutory remittances (EHT, WSIB, CPP, EI, etc.).Respond to payroll-related inquiries from staff and external partners in a professional and timely manner.Lead payroll process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Support budgeting and financial reporting through payroll cost analysis.Ensure confidentiality and security of payroll data at all times.About YouPost-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation in good standing with the National Payroll Institute.Minimum 57 years of progressive payroll experience, preferably in a non-profit or unionized environment.Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and best practices.Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP, Ceridian, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, or similar platforms.High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
