Job Title

The Estimating Manager will lead our estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mining construction estimating, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids and proposals simultaneously at Vicuna Corp.Responsible for analyzing costs and preparing estimates on civil engineering, architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical construction projects. Experience in commercial and industrial, mining, and construction with strong math knowledge, organized, analytical, writing, and good communication skills.Key Responsibilities:Estimate costs of materials, labour, and equipment for projects based on contract bids, quotes, schematic drawings, and specificationsOversee bid strategy, risk assessment, and value engineering efforts.Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards, and conduct negotiationsPrepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts for a projectPrepare and maintain a list of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractorsLiaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors, and prepare estimates on changes to cost estimatesImplement and maintain estimating software and tools.Train and mentor junior estimators and support staff.May manage and coordinate construction projects and prepare progress schedulesPrepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data.Continually updates technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.QualificationsBachelors degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field.Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.Fluency in Spanish is required.Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and materials.Proficiency in estimating softwareExcellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Strong leadership and team management abilities.Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and word processing programsUnderstanding of construction documentsAbility to read and interpret blueprintsAbility to coordinate and work independentlyKnowledge of CAD softwareProficient with Microsoft Office Suite
