Transportation Supervisor Location: Halifax NS greater area Industry: Logistics / Transportation / Supply Chain Employment Type: Full-TimeAbout the Role:This role requires a hands-on leader to oversee drivers, dispatchers, and administrative staff, while driving accountability through KPI monitoring, team coaching, and process improvement.Key Responsibilities:Supervise and coordinate the activities of drivers, dispatchers, and other transportation team members.Plan and assign daily routes and schedules to ensure optimal fleet utilization.Monitor and report on transportation KPIs including on-time delivery, cost per mile, fuel efficiency, and compliance.Provide leadership and coaching to team members, fostering a culture of safety, performance, and accountability.Collaborate with warehouse, customer service, and operations teams to resolve delivery issues and improve service levels.Ensure compliance with all DOT, safety, and company policies and regulations.Conduct regular team meetings, driver debriefs, and performance reviews.Analyze logistics data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of drivers and dispatch staff.Oversee preventative maintenance scheduling and vehicle availability.Qualifications:2+ years of supervisory experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet management.Proven leadership experience managing drivers and dispatchers in a fast-paced environment.Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, fleet safety standards, and routing systems.Experience working with logistics software and transportation management systems (TMS).Excellent organizational and communication skills.Strong analytical skills and experience managing KPIs and performance metrics.Preferred:Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, or related field.Experience in unionized environments is an asset.
