This individual will be responsible for turning internal and external data into actionable insights that drive category growth, shopper engagement, and strategic decision-making across retail and eCommerce channels.Youll be the go-to partner for teams looking to make strategic decisions rooted in syndicated and performance datafrom product innovation to sales strategy, marketing optimization, and retail execution.Breakdown of Responsibilities by Focus Area40% Category analytics (dashboard building, ad hoc data mining)30% Trade analytics using syndicated and shopper/consumer data30% Business development and strategy (intermediary between Sales & Marketing to support channel strategy)Key ResponsibilitiesData Analysis & InsightsAnalyze syndicated and customer data (e.g., SPINS via Satori, IRI, Nielsen, Numerator, Amazon via Cobalt) to uncover insights that drive brand and category performance.Analyze BKN and competitor sales data to identify performance trends, whitespace, and growth opportunities across customers, categories, and channels.Build competitive sets for online and offline SKUs and track BKN performance vs key competitors.Evaluate category trends and competitive dynamics to support innovation launches and strategic brand planning.Analyze market dynamics, channel behavior, and consumer preferences to support packs and pricing that drive margin and volume.Reporting & DashboardsCreate and maintain centralized dashboards and ad-hoc reports using Power BI (Cora), Excel, or other tools.Translate complex datasets into clear, compelling stories and actionable recommendations for cross-functional stakeholders.Maintain a centralized source of truth for category, customer, and competitive insights.Monitor and report on sales performance metrics and key KPIs (e.g., weekly velocity by SKU and customer/account); provide regular updates to senior leadership.Business Development & StrategySupport the development and implementation of business development strategies to drive growth across all channels and classes of trade.Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to align business development efforts with company goals.Leverage data analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of trade spending and inform optimization strategies.Work closely with Product Development and R&D to provide feedback on consumer needs and emerging trends.Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Product Development, and Supply Chain to support impactful pack-price architecture (PPA) strategies.Sales & Marketing EnablementCollaborate with Sales and Marketing on customer-specific strategies, presentations, product positioning, and shelf layouts.Lead the development of internal retail category decks and support customer presentations with relevant insights and recommendations.Data GovernanceWork with data vendors and brokers to ensure integrity, accessibility, and consistency in our data sources.QualificationsBachelors degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field.35 years of experience in category insights, shopper insights, retail analytics, or business analysis in the CPG industryHands-on experience with SPINS (Satori), IRI, Nielsen, Amazon data platforms (Cobalt, JungleScout), or similar.Strong analytical skills with an ability to identify insights and communicate them through simple, impactful narratives.Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and PowerPoint.
