Comprised of CI, the American Conference Institute (ACI) and C5, the C5 Group has grown to produce more than 100 events each year, attended by thousands of senior delegates from across the world.Primary Function C5 Group is hiring an energetic, experienced events professional to implement and execute the conference logistics for a portfolio of events across Canada hosted by CI. The primary role and responsibility of the Event Manager is to research, source, negotiate and contract venues and vendors, managing all within assigned budget parameters and to work closely with the internal cross functional teams and shared services in the planning and execution of assigned events. The position will report to the Director of Global Events and this role will touch 15-20 live and virtual events a year. The Event Manager will be a critical, contributing member of the Events Team, and will be passionate and creative about finding value, enhancing the attendee experience. Core Responsibilities To stay current within the events industry through research and education, lending expertise of event concepts, trends, suppliers, market shifts, etc. to the company, event teams and the events themselvesDevelop partnerships with internal departments, understanding their needs to provide solutions suitable to CI's attendees and sponsorsActively participate in all conference planning meetingsBudget and expense management for assigned conferences to include: (1) ongoing management of P&Ls, identifying and reporting areas of opportunity and/or challenge to the Director of Global Events; (2) Manage hotel/venue and all vendor contracts to meet approved budgeted expenses per line item; and (3) Provide a post conference final expense summary report to LeadershipProvides input and creative ideas on aligning events/conferences with marketing plansCore Competencies Ability to multitask and manage changing priorities in a high-pressure environmentWell-honed time management skills and a strong attention to detailHighly-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm under pressureStrong negotiating and contract management skills, taking a creative approach to identifying opportunities for cost savings and added value at any stage of the event lifecycleExtensive and current knowledge of event venues, entertainment options and contacts both domestically in Canada and internationally.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities RequiredMinimum of 3 to 5 years event planning experience Specific industry designation e.g. CMP or CSEP is preferredFamiliarity with basic accounting and budgeting principlesAbility to independently manage and execute assigned programsStrong client service focusAbility to problem solve under pressure (e.g. time constraints, demanding attendees and speakers, change in requirements)Flexibility to work outside of business hours including working eveningsAbility to travel to off-site venues for the duration of an event Equal OpportunitiesThe C5 Group of companies consisting of The Canadian Institute (CI) and American Conference Institute (ACI) values the diversity (all the ways in which we are different) of our colleagues.
