JOB DESCRIPTION Insight Global is looking for 4th and 3rd Class Engineers that will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the power plant, steam distribution system, and other related mechanical systems for one of our top Healthcare clients. The incumbent is required to perform a number of regular inspection maintenance functions and monitor all systems closely in compliance with standards determined by the Department of Environment, Labour and Justice. The operator is expected to respond appropriately to address issues as they arise and work alone making independent decisions to troubleshoot and correct problems. successful completion of Grade 12; successful completion of a course in Power Engineer Class 4 at an approved institute of technology or trade school; two (2) years experience performing work related to one or more of the maintenance trades; capable of sustained physical activity; able to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Prepare and maintain boilers, heat exchangers, sterilizers, and gas systems for inspections and operation. Inspect, test, clean, and repair boilers and components; flush and replace boiler water; conduct water quality tests (e.g., hardness, solids, pH, oxygen). Operate and monitor HVAC systems, including steam coils, pneumatic valves, dampers, thermostats, radiators, and air compressors; maintain optimal humidity and temperature. Monitor and maintain building control systems for alarms and HVAC equipment performance. Inspect, test, and repair mechanical and safety systems (valves, water glasses, cutouts, limit controls, flame sensors, etc.). Perform routine maintenance on pumps, fans, compressors, refrigeration, and ventilation systems; adjust belt tension and drain condensation. Monitor and change medical gas tanks; order gases, check for leaks, and respond to alarms; repair/replace wall outlets for oxygen, nitrous oxide, and vacuum. Oversee fire protection systems, including pressure checks, pump tests, and participation in fire drills. Monitor fuel systems, including heating oil levels and generator performance; test diesel generators in coordination with maintenance staff. Maintain accurate shift records and log plant operations, alarms, repairs, and test results. Respond to and log all after-hours maintenance calls. Supervise external contractors performing plant-related work and assist when necessary. Adhere to safety codes and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) regulations.
