While we operate primarily in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, our projects span Western Canada. Our valued clients include developers, business owners, universities, property managers, government agencies, and industrial companies.Every day, we:Support and train our employees, helping them build their careersDesign building systems to be sustainable, safe and comfortableWork to earn the trust of our clients and our colleaguesSeek out feedback, and respond by improving ourselves About the RoleIn this role, you will work closely with engineers and senior technical staff to develop design drawings for a variety of building systems, including:Lighting and emergency lightingPower distribution, including schematics and single-line diagramsFire alarm systemsCoordination of security and access control systems Our projects range in size and complexityfrom small tenant improvements to large multi-residential, commercial, office, and light industrial developments. Local experience is considered an asset.ResponsibilitiesBe up to date on applicable building codes, by-laws and standardsOperate with moderate oversight on typical design problems; seek advice and assistance from senior staff for deeper technical problemsPerform electrical calculations for power distribution, lighting levels, and equipment sizingPrepare drawings suitable for building permits, tenders, and constructionWorking with the project team to help resolve issues during constructionWorking closely with the Project Manager and other technical staff to provide clients with completed projects in a timely mannerMaintaining open lines of communication and coordinating work with the Project Manager, staff, and project team members outside of SELPrepare and track construction documentation (change orders, site instructions, shop drawings, RFIs, etc.) with moderate oversightPerform site visits, as required, with direct supervisionParticipating in discussions with clients as required QualificationsGraduation from a technical university or college diploma program, with a focus on AutoCAD Design, Electrical Engineering, or Lighting Design; orEquivalent work experience; and2 8 years work experience in Electrical Design preferred, but not required Required SkillsCompetent working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and BC Building CodeAbility to accurately apply common codes and standards to routine design problemsA passion for design and self-improvement through learningInterpersonal Skills: demonstrates respect for others and communicate ideas clearlyCommunication Skills: communicate in a credible, attentive, and reliable mannerAbility to identify and understand client expectations, then meet or exceed themKnowledge of MS Office 365 suiteHighly skilled in the use of AutoCAD (2D), MS Excel, and other routine design toolsAbility to identify risks to clients or SEL and identify technical innovative approaches to complex problemsBenefitsClose-knit team with a supportive, family-oriented atmosphereCompetitive salary, regularly adjusted for high performersCompany-sponsored retirement savings planComprehensive health, dental, and lifestyle planWed love to hear from you!
