We are a family-owned company merged with Rockwell Industries, allowing us to maintain flexibility and agility while serving clients across North America.Here, an Engineering Technologist plays a pivotal role in supporting production and sales teams by creating estimates, part and machine designs, drafting, and drawing revisions. The Engineering Technologist plays a crucial role for smooth communication between production and sales by addressing questions and helping to find solutions.Job Specific Responsibilities:DesignProvide drawings or designs for mechanical equipment manufactured for Promac or for an external customer in accordance with prescribed corporate standards.Review work required and set priority list for production and sales supportReview other technologists drawings as directed.Review revision requests and revise drawings if appropriate.Create part and equipment drawings including but not limited to Arbors, Sleeves, Guides, Rolls, Chain and Babbit Jigs.Knowledge of the manufacturing processes in Promac.Make recommendations of items that should be outsourced.EstimatingProvide estimates for custom work.Ensure estimates are accurate and timely.Provide recaps at the conclusion of a successful project as required, including WO summary filed as appropriate.Project OrganizationContact customers by phone and/or make site visits as required.Confirm that material specifications align with project delivery expectation and production date.Provide drawings required for the completion or clarification of parts or project based upon calculation and measurement as required.Provide shops with all information necessary to complete project in an efficient manner. Review all projects with Production Planner, or designate, at time of package issue. Include a brief run-down of unusual or critical design features, suggested manufacturing procedure, and any material issues.Communicate closely and regularly with Production leader and/or foremen to ensure dates and specific requirements are being met.Regularly monitor projects throughout build to ensure conformance with customer requirements and schedule.Answer tradesperson questions to support production as required.Maintain adequate files on projects, including specific procedures and important details. Provide photos of finished product and include in Promac network document management system.Qualifications/Education/ExperienceHighschool Diploma plus diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field of study and appropriate experience.Proficient in Solidworks and/or AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and Word.Experience in industrial manufacturing, fabrication and machining.Excellent communication and team player.Experience with sawmill system design and processes an asset.Ability to provide solutions.
