As an Intermediate Design Manager, you will lead projects in the Western Canada Region and support internal Project Managers, throughout the GHD Enterprise, in all aspects of the project with a primary focus on organizing the technical team to complete the task; control the design path, solve problems, and hold responsibility for the design. Then see how everyone gets behind you.Join us as we strive to ensure a sustainable future for our communities and the world we live in.Become part of our global network of skilled engineers, scientists, auditors, planners and environmental specialists, all working together to leave this world better than we found it.Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:Work closely with Project Managers on all major project functions, with a primary focus on managing the technical project teamCoordinate technical team leads of the different design disciplinesDevelop or verify the technical scope of a projectLead the creation and execution of design work plan and LOEManage project design budget in collaboration with the Project Manager and design discipline leadsOversee the engineering schedule in collaboration with the Project Manager and design discipline leadsLead interdisciplinary design coordination meetings and address critical issues that impact external partnersWork closely with the engineering group to facilitate decision-making related to design, the choice of process and equipment and day-to-day problemsEnsure the clients requirements including specifications and standards are integrated into the projectResponsible for quality control of all deliverable submittals and to ensure quality control processes are being followedEnsure fluid communication between the project management team, the design team, construction team and the various internal and external stakeholders as engineering elementsMentor and develop junior staffResponsible for implementing and following the projects Change Control system, including proactive escalation of potential changesServe as liaison between the site and engineering disciplines during construction and oversee the review of shop drawingsResponsible for producing a compliant, constructible design in accordance with Client requirements, Operation and Maintenance requirements and Construction requirementsEnsure the design produced follows appropriate engineering processes, including GHD and Project specific processesWhat you will bring to this team:Bachelors (B.Sc.) degree or equivalent from a recognized college or universityMinimum of 8+ years' of broad and extensive technical, administrative and project experienceExperience in managing the design delivery for larger, multi-discipline projects an assetExperience with industrial/process plants, facilities, or buildingsExperience in Water/Wastewater Treatment, Solid Waste, or Transportation Infrastructure industries, either for private or public clients, is considered an assetKnowledge of scheduling software and engineering, capital cost estimating techniques and various construction contracting strategies is a definite assetExcellent verbal and written communication skillsThe ability to deal with uncertainty, changing and multiple prioritiesStrong leadership, team building, organization and mentoring skillsTake on some of the worlds toughest challenges - with everyone at GHD backing you every step of the way.We'll give you control over your career, empower you to find innovative solutions and help you create a lasting impact.See where your commitment could take you with GHD.As a diverse and inclusive organization, we encourage individual achievement and recognize the strength of a diverse workforce.
