The Opportunity We are seeking a proven and passionate Director of Quality, Food Safety, Regulatory, and Sanitation (FSQR) to lead all aspects of our food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory programs. This is a high-impact leadership role with full responsibility for Crofters Food Safety and Quality Management Systems (FSQMS), including SQF certification, HACCP programs, sanitation protocols, and regulatory compliance in both Canadian and U.S. markets. Reporting to the VP of Operations, the successful candidate will lead a growing QA team, partner cross-functionally across operations and R&D, and be a key driver in supporting Crofters continued growth and reputation for excellence. Youll play a critical role in developing strategy, ensuring compliance, leading audits, reducing product variability, and driving a culture of continuous improvement and food safety from the ground up. Key Responsibilities Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS) Ensure compliance with all food safety standards including GFSI (SQF), HACCP, PCQI, and relevant Canadian/U.S. food laws Lead the HACCP team and own cross-functional quality initiatives for new product development and commercialization Manage internal audits, customer complaint investigations, and product recall processes Establish KPIs, conduct root cause analyses, and drive corrective action planning Maintain oversight of inbound material testing and vendor specification compliance Design and deliver effective internal food safety and sanitation training programs Collaborate with operations leadership to reduce product variability and improve consistency Provide leadership and mentorship to QA staff, developing talent and supporting professional growth Develop and manage the Quality department budget Serve as a key point of contact for regulatory bodies, certification organizations, and major customers Qualifications & Experience Bachelors degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or related technical field (Masters degree an asset) 10+ years of progressive experience in food safety/quality roles within food manufacturing 10+ years of experience managing and developing high-performing QA teams Proven success in GFSI (SQF), HACCP, BRC, PCQI certification and audit leadership Expertise in Canadian and U.S. food regulations, quality systems, sanitation, and pest control Skilled in continuous improvement methodologies (RCA, Lean, TPM, Six Sigma) Strong communication and collaboration skills across all organizational levels Strategic thinker with hands-on leadership style and attention to detail Must be comfortable working 100% onsite in Parry Sound, Ontario What We Offer A meaningful leadership role at a growing and values-driven organic food company A chance to live and work in beautiful Parry Sound, surrounded by natural beauty and a strong community Competitive compensation and benefits package An inclusive, innovative, and collaborative workplace culture The opportunity to shape quality systems that directly impact consumer trust and brand excellence
