Status : OpenPosition is for a qualified NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter with minimal fire and rescue experience. The role requires a qualified Primary Care Paramedic (PCP), Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP), or Registered Nurse (RN) with minimal experience. This is an entry-level position focused on providing safe emergency responses to all downgrading incidents once reported. The position aims to develop to obtain a 3rd Class Emergency Response Level classification within the clients ESD Development Matrix.Key Accountabilities :Reporting to the Emergency Coordinator, the Level 1 ERO performs basic duties related to fire, medical, rescue, and hazmat according to standard practices and procedures.Responds to all downgrading incidents as part of a team under the supervision of a Level 2 ERO, Senior Emergency Response Officer (SERO), or Emergency Coordinator (EC).Performs assigned tasks to support the Emergency Action Plan.Provides medical assessment and treatment within the scope of their PCP, ACP, or RN protocols.Supports the Training Group and Treatment Room Group as assigned.Performs Level 1 inspections on property assets.Independently collects and analyzes information, applying basic professional judgment with guidance on complex issues.During emergency operations, follows direction, executes tactics, evaluates their effectiveness, communicates status, and makes recommendations to the Sector Leader or Incident Commander, especially under stressful and dangerous conditions.Provides initial response including size-up and immediate mitigation tactics.Has a high level of knowledge to interpret response, medical, operational guidelines, protocols, policies, and procedures.Works primarily in hands-on, task-oriented environments, often exposed to extreme climate changes and hazardous conditions such as toxic atmospheres, extreme heat, confined spaces, and heights during emergency responses.During emergencies, mental exertion is significant due to the urgency and life safety concerns.Positions require being on call at night during the work cycle.Required Qualifications, Experience, and Education :Qualified NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter with 1-3 years of experience.Qualified PCP, ACP, or RN with 1-3 years of experience.Registered with the appropriate governing body (e.g., Alberta College of Paramedics for PCP & ACP, CARNA for RN).Certification or equivalent experience in areas such as Dangerous Goods NFPA 472 Operations Level, Fire Department Vehicles Driver/Operator NFPA 1002, or Wildland Fire Fighting NFPA 1051.CPR and ITLS certification is an asset.Paramedic/RN certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).Alberta Class 3 Operators License with Air Brake endorsement is an asset.Must pass the annual clients Emergency Services Fitness Test. #J-18808-Ljbffr
