Join a network of creators where your unique voice adds to the rich tapestry of our university and helps us create a distinct university experience for our staff and students. **About the role** Fostering student success through hands-on mentorship and guidance in our applied learning environments, including project work across all years of the Interaction design diploma and/or Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication. This dynamic role focuses on empowering students in their visual design journey while collaborating with faculty to create enriching learning experiences. The successful candidate will provide personalized teaching support to students and faculty during lab hours and after class. A qualified candidate will offer technical guidance and is able to demonstrate technical solutions within the design software. They will also offer constructive feedback to help students develop their design and illustration projects to professional and technical standards. **Key Responsibilities:** * Providing one-on-one feedback and software support during lab hours and designated support times * Offering technical software assistance and troubleshooting support to ensure students and faculty can effectively execute their creative visions * Guiding students through the commercial visual design production process, sharing industry insights and best practices * Creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment where all students feel welcomed and encouraged * Maintaining studio safety protocols while fostering a collaborative workspace * Supporting faculty in delivering engaging applied learning experiences * Training and teaching software demonstrations for students and faculty. This may occur during structured class time in partnership with faculty or after class/during lab hours to support student needs. **Experience, competencies & qualifications** **Required Qualifications** * Masters degree or equivalent industry experience (10 years minimum) * 3 years of post-secondary teaching experience * Professional experience working in a digital agency setting as an employee, contractor, consultant or owner. * Professional working knowledge of: Adobe Creative Cloud applications, macOS (Operating System), MS Office 365, Figma, and Fontbase. * Knowledgeable of both digital and physical production best practices and technical proficiencies. * Experience delivering courses both in-person and in an online format via zoom and MS Teams. Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge in the subject area, supported by relevant industry experience. Familiarity with industry terminology is required. During the interview a candidate may be asked to provide a portfolio or case study of recent work. Candidates with academic backgrounds must show effective teaching methods and industry awareness. Proficiency in course specific software is required, and ongoing use is essential.
