Job Summary Working within a large multi-disciplinary team of researchers, the candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing a sexual health education program for 2SLGBTQ+ youth and parents. This includes training sexual health educators to provide the content and contributing to evaluating the program. This Health Canada funded program is expected to be offered in both English and French. This position will work with curriculum in both languages. Organizational Status The Stigma and Resilience among Vulnerable Youth Centre (SARAVYC) is a research centre within UBCs School of Nursing. The team is made up of researchers and community partners advancing research to improve the lives of 2SLGBTQ+ and other marginalized youth. Work Performed * Develop a comprehensive curriculum for the sexual health education program in both English and French, including curriculum materials development such as videos, presentations, and handouts. * Collaborate with youth and parent advisory groups to tailor the curriculum as needed. * Train sexual health educators on implementing the culturally relevant sexual health education program. * Provide guidance to the team in delivering culturally relevant sexual health education to youth and their parents. * Contribute to evaluating the sexual health education program. * Perform other tasks as assigned. Consequence of Error/Judgement This position involves interacting with youth, parents, researchers, and community educators so errors may contribute to loss of reputation and potentially harmful information for young people. Supervision Received This position reports to the Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Elizabeth Saewyc and is expected to work independently. Overall objectives are determined in consultation with the PI. Supervision Given Supervising contractual sexual health educators. Minimum Qualifications University degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. * Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with ones own * Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing ones own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion Preferred Qualifications * Fluent in English and French for teaching content. * Strong written and communication skills in both languages. * Demonstrated knowledge of issues related to marginalized youth, such as 2SLGBTQ+ youth health inequities. * 5 years experience in developing sexual health education curriculum for all ages, and especially for 2SLGBTQ+ people, preferred. * Experience in training sexual health educators to effectively deliver sexual health content. * More than 5 years experience in delivering sexual health education programs among youth, including 2SLGBTQ+ youth, preferred. * Ability to work with Microsoft Powerpoint preferred. * Experience delivering programs virtually via Zoom or MS Teams an asset.
