Our robust Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility program continues to grow, and has been recognized by the United Nations and many other organizations for our leadership. **WHAT YOU''LL BE DOING** * Researches, develops, organizes and/or maintains waste management projects and programs for the Region and its stakeholders. * Develops work plans, budgets, timelines, goals and objectives for pilot projects and ongoing programs. * Researches, provides comments and makes recommendations to the Supervisor to support waste diversion and disposal strategies, projects and programs; prepares drafts reports, for the Environmental Services Committee to obtain approvals, to initiate new policies, to obtain approval for projects and/or programs and to provide status reports. * Monitors, researches, analyses and comments on regulations, by-laws, procedures, practices and policies of the Region and Federal/Provincial/Municipal levels, pertaining to solid waste management. * Identifies best practices amongst municipal and private sector service providers and develops performance indicators for Regional programs, services and practices. * Oversees the work of consultants and contractors to ensure successful contract management and program delivery; reconciles contractor invoicing and makes recommendations for payment. * Chairs or participates in meetings, committees, work groups and task forces, as assigned. * Researches, consults with area municipalities, and provides input into the design and development of new waste management facilities and services. * Researches and monitors developments in applicable technologies, commodity markets, public and private sector services and programs in the waste management field through journals, research, conferences, seminars and discussions with stakeholders. * Analyzes social norms, cultural values and ethnic beliefs of identified groups in order to develop specific promotional/education programs. * Works with municipalities, recycling contractors, consultants, businesses, residents, agencies and other stakeholders to develop new methodologies, policies, by-laws and procedures and makes recommendations to the Program Manager. **WHAT WE''RE LOOKING FOR** * Successful completion of a University Degree in (environmental studies/science) or related field or equivalent approved combination of education and experience. * Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated project management experience in the field of solid waste management or related environmental field and social marketing or major marketing campaign. * Thorough knowledge of the waste management industry and related practices and policies. * Demonstrated project management experience in the 4Rs (reduction, reuse, recycling, recovery) and pilot programs. * Valid Ontario Class G drivers license, free of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act. * Excellent communication skills to convey technical issues to stakeholders and various media and to deal effectively with the public and government officials. * Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant Provincial and Federal legislation. * Experience in administering contracts, conducting waste audits and/or advertising. * Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer focus, communication, collaboration and personal ownership. * Computer literacy utilizing MS Office applications and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, scheduling, presentation applications and specialized software relevant to the technical specialty. * Strong research and evaluation skills and demonstrated skills in conducting in-depth cost/benefit analysis and program development. * Demonstrated presentation, promotional and public relations skills.
