This is storekeeping and clerical work of moderate complexity performed in a City facility. An employee of this class is responsible for ordering, receiving, recording, storing, and issuing a wide variety of construction and maintenance materials, automotive parts, tools, and supplies; maintains bills of materials; processing requisitions for approved items by obtaining product information, quotations, delivery dates from suppliers. The incumbent exercises independence of judgement and action within established guidelines, uses catalogue references and drawings to determine part number and description for a wide variety of parts; locates stock and forwards to customer; posts goods issues/receipts to computerized inventory system. Provides information to staff regarding such matters as stock on hand, pricing, and requisitioning procedures; arranges for storage and/or movement of stock to organize warehouse; maintain warehouse cleanliness; performs cycle counts and assists in variance reconciliation. Operates a forklift to load, unload and move heavy material. Obtains quotations, product information, and delivery dates from supplier. Performs related work as required. Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work plus sound related automotive experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of stores practices and procedures and regulations governing stores operations; the various types and uses of supplies, automotive parts, tools, equipment and services required by departments. Sound knowledge of the hazards and proper safety precautions related to the work performed. Working knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures. Ability to perform a variety of clerical, record keeping, pricing, posting and related stores-clerical and manual tasks; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various internal and external contacts; to operate common office equipment including a computer terminal; to operate a forklift. Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform the work. A Driver''s License for the Province of British Columbia and Forklift Certificate are required.
