**Job Information** Job Requisition ID: 71695 Ministry: Treasury Board & Finance Location: Edmonton Full or Part-Time: Full Time Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week Permanent/Temporary: Ongoing Scope: Open Competition Closing Date: May 28, 2025 Classification: Program Services 3 Market Adjustment (PS 3 MA) Salary: $2,626.89 to $3,448.73 bi-weekly ($68,561 - $90,011/year) Staffed by a knowledgeable and experienced team, the Office of Statistics and Information (OSI), within the Economics and Fiscal Policy (EFP) Division, is the provincial statistics agency with a responsibility to plan, promote, consolidate and develop social and economic statistics and analysis for Alberta. The OSI produces population estimates and projections that underpin program and policy planning throughout the Government of Alberta (GOA), detailed economic impact analysis of GOA programs, policies and of private sector projects, and quarterly and occasional reports on select topics. The OSI also coordinates statistical standards across the GOA, negotiates access to data and data sharing and leads both working groups and user networks for the benefit of the GOA. The Demography team is responsible for socio-economic and demographic analyses, modeling and population projections which are used by Treasury Board and Finance, as well as other government departments and agencies. These analyses contribute to the development of economic and fiscal forecasts for the provincial budget as well as the development and evaluation of socio- economic policies within the department and the broader Government of Alberta. For further information about Treasury Board and Finance, see our website at **Role Responsibilities** ------------------------- Reporting to the Manager of Demography, the Data Analyst is part of a team responsible for providing advice on socio-economic and demographic issues to Treasury Board and Finance and other departments within the Government of Alberta (GOA). Using your knowledge of current social, economic and demographic trends and issues, combined with analytical methods and relevant data sources, you will support the departments role in analyzing and projecting socio-demographic trends within the province in areas such as fertility, mortality and migration. This position is one of two that support and ensure the accuracy of the provinces population projection model. To be successful in this role you must have a strong knowledge of current demographic programs, statistical trends and estimation/projection techniques, as well as excellent problem solving skills with a natural inclination for innovation and a desire to learn. Shares results with the team. **Qualifications** ------------------ University graduation with a concentration in demography, economics, statistics or related area, supplemented with a minimum of two years of experience in research and analysis is required. **Experience with computing systems and statistical software such as SAS or R is essential.** A background or course work in demography or population research would be considered an asset. Masters Degree is preferred. Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of: * 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or * 1 year of experience for 1 year of education. This position will be located in the Queen Elizabeth II (formerly Federal Building) in Edmonton. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
