Job Description

Do you have interest and experience teaching Autistic adults or populations with diverse abilities? Are you happiest when youre in the kitchen? Are you creative, organized, and entrpreneurial? In this new role, the Culinary Programs Instructor will develop nutritious & accessible menus, recipes, tools and home cooking skills training to deliver daily food-based experiences for Autistic adults (aged 18+) and their family caregivers. This includes planning, sourcing and organizing kitchen supplies and ingredients. Our fun, fast-paced environment is growing quickly to respond to and reflect the needs of our community. The expanded culinary offerings will connect our growing community using cooking/communal dining as a foundation for friendships. Participants will work hands-on virtually or in small in-person groups to plan menus, adapt recipes, prepare meals, and host food-based meet-ups. This role also manages a budget and supervises direct support staff and volunteers. Requirements Professional or lived-experience with ''''autisms'''' across the spectrum Experience teaching Proven experience in food preparation and culinary arts Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience Strong knowledge of food handling and safety practices and regulations Advanced skills in adapting lessons and expectations to reflect participant skill levels and preferences Superior problem-solving skills with high level of diplomacy and objectivity Tech savvy, ability to navigate cloud-based infrastructure Entrepreneurial, creative self- starter spirit is highly valued Experience managing a program budgets and support staff Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Other Valid Ontario Drivers License, use of own vehicle when required Criminal Records Check including the vulnerable sector Company Overview Autism Home Base is an innovative charity serving Autistic adults and their families.
