This is a full-time position based in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. The Senior Principal Mechanical Designer supports and leads the layout design of mineral processing, metallurgical, and hydrometallurgical processing facilities and materials handling facilities for studies and engineering projects. The role involves developing layouts and designs from scoping to engineering contracts, using data sheets, process design basis, and flowsheets provided by the process department. The candidate must be able to understand and develop process information into conceptual and final plant layouts.The role will be based in the Oakville, Ontario office, and the candidate must be able to work in the office 4 days a week.Responsibilities:Develop and prepare 3D and 2D mechanical layouts to meet project requirements.Prepare design drawings and deliverables according to project-specific criteria and standards.Produce and contribute to project deliverables such as design criteria, calculations, and reports.Manage and lead a team of layout designers, ensuring scope, budget, and schedule adherence.Communicate project and quality expectations to maintain drafting standards.Forecast and monitor budget hours and manpower against deliverables.Support proposal and estimate processes.Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination in developing layouts or models.Ensure compliance with Worley's policies, standards, and procedures.Mentor less experienced team members.Carry out design activities at customer sites as needed.What you will bring:Technical and Industry Experience:At least 15 years of relevant experience in mineral processing, materials handling, or hydrometallurgical facilities, preferably in gold, lithium, copper, nickel, or iron ore processing.Experience in designing and laying out mineral processing plants from ore receipt to final storage and handling.Knowledge of MMM process areas such as Crushing/Screening, Storage, Material Handling, and Mineral Processing.Proficiency in 3D modeling and AVEVA E3D.Experience with other CAD software like Bentley or Autodesk, and laser scanning is a plus.Excellent knowledge of 2D AutoCAD.Proficient in MS Office.Ability to plan and prioritize work to meet scope, time, and cost requirements.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.A proven safety record and safety-oriented mindset.Valid driver's license.Education:A degree in mechanical or mineral engineering is preferred.Please note: No agency submissions will be recognized for this vacancy.
