Reporting to the Manager of Transportation Engineering, the Crossing Guard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the School Crossing Guard Program, including the recruitment, training, placement, scheduling, and monitoring of staff as well as undertaking or participating in a variety of eld reviews and/or studies, and the analysis of data, to ensure the successful operation of the Program in compliance with all provincial guidelines and legislative and corporate regulations.The duties listed are not meant to provide a description of each and every job performed but only those which represent the core functions of the job.Develop, coordinate, and manage the day-to-day operations of the School Crossing Guard Program.Assess staffing needs and coordinate with Human Resources on the recruitment process inclusive of conducting interviews and making recommendations regarding selection and replacement of full-time and standby crossing guards.Deploy crossing guards and assign shifts to ensure optimal coverage and safety for school-aged children crossing applicable roadways. Supervise daily activities of assigned staff including training, coaching and performance management.Perform on-site assessments of crossing guards to ensure compliance with operational procedures and safety protocols.Conduct relevant studies and analysis to determine where new crossing guards are needed as well as evaluating existing locations for continuation or removal of crossing guards. Assess pavement markings and signage at school crossings, reporting any safety hazards and other potential safety issues to the Manager.Respond, address, and follow up on concerns and/or complaints from parents, schools and the public, regarding the School Crossing Guard Program including tardiness, absenteeism, job performance and site conditions.Organize and present the annual training orientation meeting for new and returning guards, including reviewing and updating the Crossing Guard Manual annually.Input, track and maintain a range of records, including but not limited to crossing guard contact information, school and crosswalk locations, timekeeping records, equipment and clothing.Implement applicable health and safety regulations and risk assessments in consultation with Human Resources.Process timesheets for payroll purposes and oversees an operating budget for the program.Monitor the inventory, and order equipment and uniform clothing within the approved budget, as required.Serve as a backfill crossing guard, as required.Other duties as required.Supervision: CUPE Crossing Guards (approx. 39)Qualifications Completion of a three-year College program in Office Administration, Business, Transportation Technology or related discipline.Current knowledge of applicable legislation, including Occupational Health and Safety Act, Highway Traffic Act, Employment Standards Act 2000, and Ontario Traffic Manual.Experience in recruitment and selection, training and orientation preferably in a unionized environment.Enhanced ability to deal courteously and professionally with members of the public, staff members and third-party entities by phone, email and in person.Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to complete inspection reports, training materials, memos, manuals, and work instructions.Closing date: Friday, July 11th, 2025 at 4:00pmContract: This is a 10-month contract (August 2025-June 2026)Salary: $88,617.12-$103,669.50 (2025 rates) How to apply: Submit a current application which includes a current cover letter and resume.
