Baytex is seeking a candidate for the following position in its Calgary, Alberta office. This position will support the Heavy Oil Business Unit and will report to the Production Engineering Manager. The Production Engineer/Technologist is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and developing optimal production strategies for various Heavy Oil assets. They will strive to maximize value by applying innovative optimization and problem-solving skills. This individual will work closely with the Operations team to provide operational support and technical guidance.They will demonstrate leadership of Baytexs safety values and policies with staff, vendors, and suppliers. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:Work with asset team members (Development, Land and Field Operations) to set, monitor and meet production targets while optimizing production and maximizing value within operating budgets.Review daily production and compile weekly production reports.Seek ways to improve profitability by optimizing base production and minimizing costs.Evaluate well and field performance to identify opportunities for workovers, stimulations, and facility improvements. Assist Operations with day-to-day production/infrastructure issues and troubleshooting.Provide input into the evaluation of potential growth and development opportunities.Provide input into the forecast of production performance to predict revenues, identify problems and plan work programs.Provide technical support to Production Accounting to ensure compliance and accuracy of reporting. Assist with EOR performance surveillance and optimization.Act as a liaison between Field Operations and Calgary staff; provide technical support to field operations and interface with staff specialists. Review and promote the application of new equipment, techniques and monitor/report realized results.Ensure wells are completed and operated in a safe, compliant, cost-effective manner. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, well-organized team player who demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
