Overview As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the Unit Clerk is responsible for facilitating patient flow through the Emergency Department and acts as a liaison to staff, patients, their families, and the public. The incumbent is professional, courteous, and displays the values of the organization during all interactions while working collaboratively with the clinic and interdisciplinary staff. Education Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent educational preparation. Training related to office administration/office coordination. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Qualifications Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team in an extremely diverse, fast-paced environment. Proven innovation in problem-solving skills and critical thinking. Demonstrated interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Professional telephone etiquette is mandatory. Expert in the use of Powerchart, ANSOS, ESM, SAP/SRM, Word, and Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Excellent computer and keyboarding skills. Demonstrated embodiment of MGH core service standards and values as demonstrated through tact, diplomacy, and discretion in matters that relate to patients, staff, and hospital affairs. Demonstrated ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Demonstrated ability to be receptive to instructions/direction. Able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Excellent organization skills required. Experience coordinating patient bookings and appointments required. Chart and file management. Demonstrated ability to work closely with patients to provide patient-focused care. Excellent work and attendance record required.
