Culinary Professional Sought for Remote Lodge Opportunity We are seeking an experienced culinary professional to join our team at a remote lodge in Fort McMurray, AB. As 1st Cook/Sous Chef, you will alternate between preparing meals and overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards in food quality, safety, and team performance. This is a dynamic role that requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. You must be adaptable and able to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in a similar position, with journeyman or Red Seal Certification. They should also possess valid WHMIS, Food Safe Advanced, and First Aid certifications. Job Responsibilities: As 1st Cook: Prepare and serve meals according to the daily menu and specifications. Supervise kitchen staff during meal preparation and service. Maintain proper food handling, storage, and rotation (HACCP/FIFO compliance). Ensure timely, high-quality meal service and maintain updated menu boards. Provide mentorship to junior cooks and new staff. As Sous Chef: Assume acting Chef duties during absences, overseeing kitchen operations and supervising culinary staff. Plan, prepare, and present meals and pastries according to menu and crew size. Complete administrative tasks such as meal sheets, inventory, time sheets, and menu planning. Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure effective communication across the team. Required Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience in a similar role. Journeyman or Red Seal Certification. Valid WHMIS, Food Safe Advanced, and First Aid certifications.
